The holidays are just around the corner and I need to come clean about something, so I’m going to start this post off with a confession: I’m addicted to Pinterest. Now that I got that off my chest: it’s out in the open and we can talk about why I think it’s so great.
Pinterest is the most visual of all social platforms and it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that images are the driving force behind most social sites – even Twitter. Why? Because images evoke positive emotions (read: people like purty pictures). According to Trend Reports, most people – 65 to 85 percent – describe themselves as visual learners. I would include myself as part of that stat. I once was given the nickname Pigeon by a friend who was impressed by my ability to recall how to get somewhere based on visual cues alone.
Pinterest does have a lot of aesthetic appeal for those who love visuals. For example, I love black and white photography (see, visual!), so I am constantly hunting for inspiring images or great ideas for my own photos. Another great thing about Pinterest: it’s loaded with information. It’s the equivalent of the Library of Congress in its girth of information, but for DIY ideas and crockpot recipes. In addition to Cheesy Garlic Bread recipes (the number one recipe pin, BTW), you can also find a plethora of marketing tips from tons of credible sources.
With the holidays drawing nearer, it’s never too late to interlace some of your inbound marketing with some of that holiday cheer. Here are 12 of my favorite holiday marketing pins from Pinterest.
Don’t you think that eBooks are just a tremendous resource? I know I do and I have read all of these! They are loaded with information you need to get any type of holiday marketing campaign into gear. I especially love the eBook from Socially Stacked, but I have a professional crush on them anyway.
Most folks love infographics. They are pretty to look at AND deliver relevant information. Here are a few of my favorites specifically about holiday marketing. Love stats? The “Holiday Trends Marketers Can’t Ignore” was made just for you.
As nice as eBooks and infographics are, it’s nice to sometimes grab some quick tidbits of knowledge from a marketing blog. Here are a few of my favorites on social media and inbound marketing during the holidays.
Pinterest is an environment rich with folks sharing information on inbound marketing beyond the holiday season. That includes WSS Marketing! Come follow us – we’re always pinning up something useful or, at the very least, entertaining.
